THE CHALLENGE
As GenAI tools became increasingly accessible, staff and candidates needed clear guidance on how AI could be used responsibly within professional education. Survey data highlighted uncertainty around appropriate use, concerns about compliance with TEQSA requirements and a lack of confidence in applying AI effectively within assessment and learning contexts.
The challenge was to create practical learning that moved beyond theory, helping users understand not only what AI is, but how to use it safely, ethically and effectively in their day-to-day work.
MY APPROACH
Led the design, development and quality assurance of GenAI learning materials.
Collaborated with tax and AI subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and regulatory alignment.
Designed and built interactive learning experiences within Canvas using Cidi Labs.
Developed assessment activities that allowed staff and candidates to apply AI concepts in authentic scenarios.
Created marking guides and support resources covering AI usage, attribution and citation practices.
KEY OUTCOMES
Developed GenAI learning and assessment resources for staff and candidates.
Built interactive learning experiences in Canvas using Cidi Labs.
Created marking guides and AI citation guidance.
Collaborated with tax and AI experts to strengthen learning content.
Used learner feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Maintained high quality standards through rigorous quality assurance processes.
Gathered learner feedback and evaluation data to continuously refine and improve the learning experience.
Ensured all learning materials met organisational quality standards before release.
THE IMPACT
The program helped build confidence and capability across both staff and candidates by providing clear, practical guidance on the responsible use of GenAI. Through a combination of learning resources, assessments, marking guidance and quality assurance processes, the initiative established a consistent approach to AI usage that balanced innovation with compliance requirements.
The resulting resources continue to support informed decision-making around AI use while providing learners and assessors with clear expectations and practical tools they can apply in real-world contexts.
