MY ROLE

Learning Designer/Project Lead

THE CHALLENGE

As part of UTS Business School's international partnership with SILC Shanghai, more than 30 second-year business subjects required redesign to improve consistency and enhance the student experience for a large international learner cohort.

I led a nine-month transformation project to establish a scalable Canvas framework that standardised navigation, content structure and learning design practices across the program. Working closely with academics, project stakeholders and international partners, the project aimed to create a more engaging, accessible and sustainable online learning experience while supporting future subject development and delivery.

MY APPROACH

Reviewed existing subject structures, learner feedback and stakeholder requirements to identify opportunities for course improvement.

Designed a consistent Canvas framework focused on learner engagement, accessibility and intuitive navigation.

Redesigned over 30 business subjects using instructional design best practice and contemporary online learning principles.

Collaborated with academic stakeholders to support implementation across the international partnership and drive adoption of new standards.

Collected and analysed staff and student feedback to inform iterative improvements and enhance the learning experience.

Applied data-driven insights throughout the project to improve course quality, consistency and learner satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Led project meetings and stakeholder workshops both online and face-to-face.

Collaborated with academics and stakeholders across multiple disciplines and time zones.

Redesigned 30+ second-year business degree subjects within Canvas LMS.

Produced project reports and communicated progress to key stakeholders.

Collected and analysed staff and student feedback through surveys.

Ensured consistency, accessibility and quality across all redesigned subjects.

THE IMPACT

The project successfully transformed more than 30 second-year business subjects into a consistent and scalable online learning experience, improving navigation, accessibility and engagement for thousands of international students studying through the UTS-SILC partnership. By applying a structured ADDIE-based approach and using staff and student feedback to inform continuous improvements, the project established design standards, templates and best practices that could be adopted across future subjects. The redesign not only enhanced the learner experience but also provided academics with a more consistent and sustainable framework for online delivery, supporting long-term quality and scalability across the program.
